This position will be located in The Woodlands, TX office working with the Advanced Analytics and Emerging Technologies group (AAET). Anadarko is seeking an exceptional candidate who will work with our domestic and global business units to develop innovative approaches to Onshore Unconventional Basin Evaluation, Resource Development and Reservoir Characterization. This is a highly visible role that will span across our onshore unconventional assets in both exploration and production settings.
Minimum of 5+ years’ experience preferred in the petroleum industry as a geologist with onshore unconventional reservoir characterization expertise in a wide range geologic settings.
Work effectively within a high-functioning, multidisciplinary technical team.
Function independently, handle multiple projects and be self-driven to explore for creative and innovative solutions.
Expertise in broad reservoir characterization techniques including data analysis, geostatistical methods, uncertainty and optimization techniques.
Working knowledge of key software platforms such as Petra, DecisionSpace and Petrel and an ability to collaborate with software developers to integrate new prototype solutions.
Experience in varied depositional and geographic environments is required. Experience in the Lower 48 basins, and Permian Basin in particular is preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, in order to effectively deploy value added technologies across the organization.
Exposure to advanced analytical and machine learning methods is a clear differentiating capability for the successful candidate.
Familiarity with one or more programming languages is a plus (Python, C/C++, MATLAB, etc.).
Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams of Petrophysicists, Geoscientists, Reservoir Modelers, Reservoir Engineers and Data Scientists.
Seek to reduce workflow bottlenecks between disciplines by building prototype tools and identifying workflow acceleration opportunities spanning across multiple disciplines.
Work collaboratively to generate data-centric geologic interpretations and analytical solutions that integrate geochemistry, sequence stratigraphy, petrophysics, geomechanics, and dynamic reservoir data in order to rapidly evaluate exploration play types, optimized targeting and completion strategies, and to identify production performance drivers.
Work with Data Science and Geoscience Technology teams to develop advanced reservoir characterization and uncertainty quantification workflows to be deployed across our onshore portfolio.
M.S. or PhD Degree in Geology, Geophysics or closely related earth sciences or scientific discipline.
This position may be eligible for domestic relocation.
This position is eligible for the 5/40 or 9/80 work schedule.
