Role Summary:

Baker Hughes, a GE company is currently hiring a Geological Technology Support Engineer for our OFS Pressure Pumping Product Company based in Tomball, Texas.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Geological Technology Support Engineer will be responsible for running tests in a laboratory environment in response to field technical service requests. This person will be self-sufficient and can take on multiple lab requests at once. In addition, the candidate will be expected to analyze and interpret data from the testing and summarize it in a report format. Finally, this role could be supporting multiple laboratories on technical questions and operational concerns in Geological Services, Geomechanics and Special Core Analysis.
Conducts routine chemical and physical analyses by running tests
Assists technical services team in compiling, analyzing and interpreting results for internal and external customers
Ability to learn fundamental concepts related to geological characterizations of rocks including mineralogy, mechanical properties, and special analysis to solve problems, initiate projects, and provide innovative ideas.
Works independently to perform lab testing and provide results, and communicates results to team/project leader
Has a fundamental understanding of equipment calibration, troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment
Can manage multiple projects at once and has understanding of out to manage and deliver on complex projects
Collaborates with Pressure Pumping Product Line, teammates, colleagues, and other product lines
Willing to learn equipment calibration, troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment
Participates in development of standards
A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, related scientific discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
3+ years of directly related work experience
Knowledge of oilfield laboratory testing or scientific testing in general
Verbal and written communication skills
Must be action-oriented, ethical in values, and have a strong focus on satisfying customers
Strong analytical skills
Communicates well both individually and in a team environment
Demonstrates project management skills
Self-motivating, goal oriented, and determined
Desired Characteristics:
Master’s or PhD in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related field preferred
3+ years laboratory testing experience
Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
