Apache is seeking a proven oil finder with 25-30 years of experience to serve as a Senior Geological Advisor reporting to the Exploration Manager.
The goal of the Unconventional Exploration Team is to provide an inventory of organic growth opportunities that are large in scale (greater than 50,000 acres) and high impact with a low entry cost.
The successful candidate will identify areas with exploration potential and growth for the company. An in depth knowledge of unconventional, resource and conventional exploration plays is required and the ability to lead a multidisciplinary project team through the exploration and appraisal phases of the project(s).
The primary responsibility for this job is working with the Region Exploration management in a collaborative manner to identify and evaluate exploration opportunities on a global basis with an emphasis on North America. Advising the integration of geologic play concepts and models into multi-disciplinary projects is essential for success of the plays. Additionally, the position will require assisting in the development of the New Ventures (exploration) geology staff.
Education: Minimum of a B.S. in Geology, Geophysics, or Engineering, and relevant experience (MS and/or PhD preferred).
Experience: The successful candidate must have a minimum of 25-30 years petroleum industry experience as a geologist. The candidate should have experience leading technical / project teams, interacting closely with other geoscientists and engineers and mentoring junior staff.
