Description

The candidate will be responsible for providing regional geologic interpretations of various plays.  The candidate will collaborate with the geophysicists, petrophysicists and engineers working on the team to enhance evaluations. The candidate will have the ability to integrate geological, petrophysical, geochemical, production and other appropriate data and information to build basin/play models and hi-grade areas within play fairways.

 

Detailed Description

  • Collecting and integrating data of differing types and scales including log, seismic, rock property, well performance and land data to build an understanding of basin history, resource assessment and develop play analysis
  • Develop regional, multi-county stratigraphic framework and subsurface correlations
  • Develop detailed field/prospect studies using a multi-disciplinary team approach
  • Generate and update maps,  cross-sections and technical presentations. Direct the updating of databases with tops, production data, core analysis, and other pertinent geological data.
  • Create, generate, manage and present sound, high-quality geologic interpretations and recommendations for new acreage and/or drilling opportunities to Sr. Management
  • Coordinate well logging and coring activities
  • Prepare play geoscience analysis including, integration of log data, geophysical data, rock property information, land data, well performance and other pertinent data
  • Successful track record of prospect generation and finding hydrocarbons
  • Mentor to other Geologists, Interns and Technicians

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years’ experience as a Geologist, with at least seven in the Anadarko basin required
  • Successful track record generating prospects  and finding hydrocarbons
  • Able to work in multi-disciplinary team (Geophysics, Reservoir, Engineering and Land), team with the ability to collaborate with others while maintaining a positive and productive work environment
  • Understanding of play analysis including reserves, economics, and risk assessment. Capacity to weigh all factors and identify risks
  • Experience in horizontal drilling and well operations
  • Extensive experience in log analysis. Strategic thinker with ability to introduce innovative and sound solutions adding the most value to the company
  • Ability to communicate technical data through the preparation and presentation of clear, concise, and persuasive oral/written opinions, reports and presentations
  • Extremely organized individual with the capacity to plan, prioritize, and complete multiple projects concurrently
  • Resource play experience required
  • Geologic workstation experience, GeoGraphix and SMT experience preferred
  • A Bachelor's degree in Geology is required: Master's degree preferred
  • Some travel to field operations or other business unit offices may be required
  • Normal office environment
