Responsibilities include:

Support multiple business units with carbonate reservoir characterization. Plan and coordinate core and cuttings data acquisition programs. Select core plug and cuttings samples for special core analysis and monitor/QC lab analyses. Interpret environments of deposition and stratigraphic context using core analyses, petrography, production and legacy data. Assist business units with integrating results into ongoing geologic and engineering modeling studies. Present/communicate integrated reservoir characterization results to Appraisal and Development teams and provide recommendations for drilling, completions/recompletions and development strategies. Assist with unconventional core/thin section studies and data integration.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
Interpretation/integration-oriented geologist with a Master’s Degree in Geology with specialization in carbonate sedimentology, stratigraphy and petrography
Minimum of 8 years of experience in the Oil and Gas Industry. Experience working carbonate reservoirs in the Permian Basin
Expert-level skills in carbonate reservoir description and characterization to include sequence stratigraphic correlation of well logs; generation of cross sections to highlight the presence, quality and distribution of hydrocarbons reservoirs; identification of net reservoir; generation of net-reservoir isochore maps; creation of structure maps; integration of well logs, seismic, and structural geology concepts
Expert level skill in the Lucia Carbonate Rock Classification System
Proficient in sedimentological and sequence stratigraphic interpretation of carbonate systems
Proven expertise in detailed geologic description of carbonate cores, thin-sections and ditch cuttings, and integration of associated analytical data (e.g. RCA, SCAL, XRD, SEM, NMR, MICP, HAFWL, etc.)
Self-starter with a well-developed ability to identify, plan and manage multiple concurrent projects
Able to develop data acquisition and analysis programs for rock/fluid properties characterization
Highly skilled at integrating sedimentological interpretations with core, engineering and production data
Able to evaluate technical risks related to trap, reservoir, charge and seal
Experienced in 3D geological modeling (Petrel or similar)
Proven track record in generating prospects and discovering hydrocarbons
Experienced in optimizing vertical and horizontal drilling targets with exploration, appraisal and development teams
Proficient in drilling and completion operations
Familiar with basic and advanced well logging tools, including planning, acquisition and interpretation
Ability to contribute effectively and creatively as an individual and act as an advisor/liaison to multidisciplinary teams
Effectively establish and maintain peer relationships in a team environment
Excellent presentation and writing skills, able to concisely communicate information and evaluations to different disciplines and management
Strong business acumen with good problem solving skills
Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite
Able to mentor early career staff
