In this exciting role you will support the management of risks associated with mine pit walls through their lifecycle and devonian inflow risks within the mines. You will work within monitoring programs of Suncor’s geotechnical engineering and water resources groups. Your knowledge of design, construction and performance information of final pit walls and devonian inflow response programs will be paramount.
You will use your expertise to:
Engage and support the pit wall monitoring program
Assess and support the devonian inflow monitoring program
Provide detailed design reports for hazard identification, quality assurance and proactive risk mitigation
Assist with quality assurance management for ongoing final pit wall mining and performance instrumentation
Be collaborative and provide ongoing support within the geo services team

Must-haves (minimum requirements):
One or more years of experience supporting an open pit mining operation
A Bachelor’s Degree of Science or Engineering degree in Geological, Mining, Civil, Materials or Environmental
Been registered, or are eligible to register, as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA)
Strong technical, oral and written communication skills
A valid driver’s licence and a clean driving record

Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, and capability with Minescape and ARCGIS software
Ability to work independently while participating as an integral team member
A strategic perspective while having well-developed critical thinking and being able to apply logic and challenge assumptions
Where you’ll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:
You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray, Alberta, with occasional travel to Calgary, Alberta
Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
If you reside outside of Fort McMurray, relocation of your primary residence to within 60 km of Fort McMurray is mandatory. Relocation support will be provided; we offer highly competitive housing assistance to eligible individuals
