GlobalData is currently looking for a petroleum economist to join the team in the role of Upstream Fiscal Analyst. This role lies at the heart of our work to provide comprehensive analysis of the oil and gas sector worldwide. As part of the team you will keep abreast of tax and regulatory policy changes affecting the upstream oil and gas sector, leveraging GlobalData’s tools and databases to write detailed reports and provide insight directly to clients. Additionally you will support the upstream analysis team by building and maintaining the fiscal terms and tax calculations in our library of discounted cash flow models. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience working in a similar role, with a background in economics, finance, politics or a related discipline, and a keen interest in energy policy.

Key Responsibilities:
Research and track policy developments affecting the fiscal and regulatory terms governing the upstream oil and gas sector
Author topical insight pieces relating to the upstream fiscal and regulatory environment
Prepare and maintain detailed country-level fiscal and regulatory reports
Build and maintain library of fiscal models
Support the sales team in client calls and meetings, demonstrating knowledge and technical expertise in the sector
Participate in ad-hoc consulting engagements and projects as required by the business
Aid development of new additions and improvements to fiscal and regulatory analysis products

Role would suit a petroleum economist, with cash flow analystics Qualifications

Skills & Experience

Required:
3+ years of experience in the oil and gas sector
Degree in economics, finance, politics or a related discipline
Experience building discounted cash flow models
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Previous exposure to and an understanding of upstream regulatory and fiscal systems
Excellent writing skills, with the ability to express complex ideas in a concise manner
Attention to detail and commitment to quality
Effective oral communication skills to support client interactions

Preferred
Existing research contacts within the oil and gas sector
Relevant language skills, particularly French, Spanish, Portuguese or Russian
