YOUR OPPORTUNITY:

Reporting to the Lead, Facilities and Projects, Bitumen Production, you will be responsible for providing engineering support to the business unit value stream assigned to you, and for executing projects in that area. You will ensure successful project outcomes including meeting schedule commitments, cost at or below AFE value and delivering solutions that effectively meet the stakeholder requirements, with no safety incidents.

This position is based at our Horizon Oil Sands site in Fort McMurray, Alberta and is eligible for:
Relocation to Calgary, Edmonton, or Fort McMurray

HOW WILL YOU MAKE YOUR MARK?
Regularly communicate with members of your Business Unit team to determine what engineering support they require
Understand the status of all projects in your value stream; work with the Small Projects Coordinator to prioritize all Engineering work orders (WO’s) in your Value Stream
Ensure all projects are completed in accordance with the Horizon Project Execution Manual
Work with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering in the project scoping phase to ensure scope justifications for Engineering WO’s are clear and concise
Complete/obtain approval for Authorization for Expenditures (AFE’s)
Work with CNRL Engineers, Designers and 3rd party engineering firms in creating error and omission-free CWP’s
Review engineering deliverables with Maintenance and Construction Coordinators to ensure designs are practical and constructible
Ensure appropriate levels of risk assessment and change management are completed for each project
Manage the schedule and budget for sustaining capital projects in your area
Provide engineering support to sustaining capital projects during the procurement and construction phases
Develop yearly budgets, cost forecasts and long range plans for all projects in your area
Ensure all projects are properly closed out upon completion
Complete all work to the standards established by Canadian Natural Resources Limited and in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and environmental standards for the province of Alberta

QUALIFICATIONS:
Four or more years of experience is required, ideally with 3+ years’ experience working in an operational oil and gas facility, is preferred
Completion of an Engineering Degree or Technologist Diploma
Registered or eligible for registration as a P.Eng or P.L. Eng in Alberta with APEGA
Project Management Certification through the Project Management Institute (PMI) or equivalent is preferred
Experience managing small to mid-sized capital projects, using established project management processes is an asset
Familiar with WCB and Alberta OH&S; Rules and Regulations
Excellent communication (written and verbal), documentation skills, leadership skills and a strong work ethic
Able to quickly facilitate issues to resolution in a large multi-discipline team
Highly motivated, self-managed and able to deliver on time
