This is the Head of Discipline (HoD) role leading and providing global Petroleum Systems Excellence within the Exploration Function and representing the discipline across other technical Functions such as reservoir development and technology. The successful candidate will be expected to lead, prioritise, and promote petroleum systems support for all exploration teams to enable the identification, categorization, and progression of value generating resources. The individual will also maintain and foster strong linkages to the CoP, influence R&D;, and steward JIPs.This individual will work with the Exploration and Reservoir Development petroleum systems community to instil and sustain a culture of continuous improvement and learning across teams and build bridges across the value chain from exploration, projects, reservoir development functions, and the subsurface technical centre. They will also need strong relationships with the Exploration leadership to ensure that the portfolio needs are met and learnings are embedded in a timely fashion. Specific activities are split between business delivery – individually or through others and support the assurance process; capability – coaching, teaching, and mentoring; external benchmarking – leveraging external ideas and approaches.
Consistent approach – ensure that there is a minimum level of quality work completed for Exploration work programs; embed workflows; evolve workflows to improve efficiency and predictionsIntegrated descriptions – identify areas in need of improvement and execute to build capability throughout the petroleum systems community and Exploration Function to ensure implications on the petroleum system are recognized during interpretation and synthesis; create an environment to foster shared ownership of the petroleum system description; work with fellow HoDs to improve integration; recommend and steward JIPs and data subscriptions as neededHoning judgement – building capability of recognizing the most important aspects of a basin/play/prospect; shape or influence work programs to focus on the critical risk elements and inputs to theseInnovation – create room and drive for continuous improvement (internal and external ideas); evolve best practicesCommunication – be an ambassador for the discipline; describe uncertainty and impact on outcome and estimated risk; cultivate good presentation skills
• M.S or Ph.D. degree in geological sciences/geochemistry
