Chevron Canada Limited has been active in Canada for more than 80 years, exploring for, developing, producing and marketing crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids. Today, Chevron Canada has interests in liquids-rich shale gas acreage and oil sands projects in Alberta; a proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) project and shale acreage in British Columbia; exploration, development and production projects offshore Newfoundland and Labrador; and exploration and discovered resource interests in the Beaufort Sea region of the Northwest Territories.
We are actively seeking an earth scientist to join our Exploration team based in Calgary, Alberta and will report to the Exploration Team Leader. The successful candidate will be responsible for interpretation of subsurface data, assessing reservoir potential, and advancing leads and prospects through the due-diligence processes. Activities will include interpretation in complex structural settings, identifying and maturing prospects, and assessing risk elements.
Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Exploration Geoscientist located in Calgary, Alberta through Monday, November 5, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Interpretation and integration of seismic data and assessing reservoir potential from seismic properties.
Activities will include interpretation in complex structural settings, identifying and maturing prospects, risk assessments, reservoir predictions and identification of play trends.
Advancing leads and prospects through the ERT process.
Regional and prospect scale mapping, reservoir quality evaluations and application of sequence stratigraphy.
Degree in geoscience with a broad based subsurface evaluation skillset. Post graduate, MBA degrees or relevant asset evaluation experience is an asset.
A minimum 5 years of relevant Oil and Gas industry experience is required.
Strong foundation in interpretation of both 2D and 3D seismic datasets, including some experience with complex stratigraphic and structural interpretation. Pre-stack inversion experience, velocity modeling and depth uncertainty analysis is desired.
Good understanding of subsurface risks, uncertainty management and Value of Information analysis. A working knowledge of the ERT process is desired.
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a multi-discipline environment. Able to interact effectively with Team Leaders, NOJV partners and service partners.
Demonstrated project management skills to deliver quality work on time and effective written and verbal communication skills.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Relocation will be considered.
Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
