The Role
We’re seeking a Senior Geologist to join our New Ventures team in Uxbridge.

You will make a direct impact on growing our exploration portfolio on the Atlantic Margin of Europe and West Africa, with additional focus on the Mediterranean and Black Sea. We have exciting and challenging targets to grow our portfolio and increase our global production by 2025 and beyond.

Your focus will be to evaluate regional databases; build basin mastery; identify evaluate and recommend acreage. You will need to project manage subsurface evaluation project and demonstrate your ability to work across teams, locations and functions for the effective delivery of recommendations to senior management.

You will present your work in a variety of scenarios including to Technical Assurance, Peer Reviews and taking your recommendations to senior management for support and approvals.

We actively encourage the sharing of technical expertise around the geoscience community, so you will be encouraged to disseminate your technical expertise to others in the global geoscience world. This may be specific technical skills or basin/regional knowledge. Your depth of expertise and ability to share and communicate will make you well placed to coach less experienced colleagues

There is a possibility of travel as part of this role, sometimes at short notice.

Reporting to the Manager, New Ventures you will play an important role in delivering results for Global Exploration by:

Leading New Venture projects
Working closely and collaboratively with explorationists around the organisation to rank basins based on regional petroleum systems and focus technical evaluations on areas likely to generate profitable entry opportunities
Recommending appropriate data acquisitions/database/report purchases for regional assessment, play trend analysis and prospect evaluation
Evaluating and ranking new opportunities through licence rounds, data room visits and meetings with oil companies and contractors
Working closely with Technical Assurance to assess prospect resource and risk
Presenting prospects to Peer Reviews, Senior Management and partners (as appropriate) with clear and well structured recommendations
Having safety at the heart of all that you deliver and in how you work
Fostering a collaborative culture across a diverse group of people to achieve key results
Who are we looking for?
Successful candidates will have a track record of finding hydro-carbons and have previously worked in a New Venture environment. We are particularly interested if you have the following skills and knowledge:

A higher degree (Ph.D., M.Sc. or equivalent) in a geoscience discipline
Demonstrable exploration expertise across multiple basins which includes in working regional evaluations, play fairway mapping and high-grading of basins, along with expertise in integrating geological and geophysical data
Structured project management capabilities
Demonstrable ability to generate, rank and recommend economically and technically valid exploration prospects and leads; creating basin-scale and prospect-scale assessments in a timely manner
Proven experience of working with a variety of structural and stratigraphic play types; it would be particularly valuable to have experience of this in deep water environments
Broad, demonstrable knowledge of clastics and carbonates regimes couple with a good knowledge of petrophysics, geophysics, basin modelling and satellite imaging
A strong influencing ability and a high degree of flexibility in your working style to adapt to changing operational and business environments and priorities
