Based in Rio, the Exploration Geologist will be part of the team of creative and innovative professionals, being responsible for multidisciplinary projects delivery at both regional and prospect scale. The EG is responsible for G&G matters during the exploration / appraisal campaign of the assets (from integrating field, regional reservoir, seismic products & fluid data on various interpretation scenarios of the main carbonate reservoir units), providing input into the definition of the Exploration / appraisal strategy and well planning and operations.
Key accountabilities include:
Provide sound regional geologic frameworks for generating and evaluating play prospectivity;
Proactively identify/generate/evaluate new material opportunities;
Derive reliable volumes, risk assessments, & critical subsurface parameters for defined plays, leads & prospects;
Participate in proposing activities (e.g. seismic, acreage acquisition, divestiture, etc.) appropriate for exploration investments in existing venture areas;
Update and evergreen subsurface plans for exploration & appraisal held assets;
Participate in regional / prospect scale 3D/2D seismic mapping & interpretations, well to seismic correlation, depth conversion, and structural reconstructions, visualization & data management;
Stay abreast of relevant technology developments within and outside the company. Test and apply new technologies and work-flows to enhance play/prospect assessments;
Plan for and deliver assurance for seismic acquisition and drilling operations preparations & execution.
MS or PhD in geology related subjects with former experience in exploration / appraisal assignments;
Understanding of Deepwater depositional systems;
Carbonate Stratigraphy and reservoir architecture;
Regional to prospect scale Exploration and Appraisal skills
Strong technical/analytical skills and the ability to integrate complex datasets.
Should have a proven track record of successfully 2D/3D seismic interpretation and mapping, prospect maturation (including volumes & risking) and reservoir characterization;
Geological operations and Joint Venture experience will be an advantage.
