Golder has a new opportunity for an experienced Engineering Geologist to join our Ground Engineering team on a full-time basis based in Christchurch. You will be working with driven professionals across multi-discipline groups to deliver a wide variety projects in Christchurch and across New Zealand. Furthermore, you will also be involved in the following:
Provision of expert advice in area of specialty, namely engineering geology and geotechnical engineering
Preparation of technical reports, including the analysis and interpretation of technical data
Application of seismology and seismotectonics to engineering
Provide technical support and assistance to wider team members and projects
Assist with preparation of proposals and promotional material for the Ground Engineering team and other teams as required
Undertake various field work related tasks including, but not limited to, engineering geological/geomorphological mapping, visual site assessment and reporting of observations. From time to time it may be required to conduct geological logging associated with drilling and/or excavations, geotechnical and environmental sampling, dynamic cone penetration tests, or hand augering if other suitable staff are not available
Undertake training and mentoring of junior colleagues in the Ground Engineering (Southern) Team

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
You will need to hold a minimum of a Bachelor degree in Geology, preference will be given to candidates who hold a PhD with expertise in earthquake hazard assessment & programming
Experience in slope stability analyses and design of retention systems
Furthermore you will have geotechnical design of foundations for a range of structures
Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
Technical reporting skills;
