Key Duties/Responsibilities:

Apache is seeking a qualified reservoir engineer with 5-10 years of experience. This position is primarily responsible for data gathering, risk analysis, reserve estimation and international economic evaluation for prospects, wells, and fields. Candidate will assist in an international team project from prospect to discovery through to appraisal and development.



  • Perform reservoir engineering studies and activities, including, but not limited to, participating in integrated field studies, economics and possibly performing regulatory required WCD simulation studies which in time could lead to full field reservoir simulation.
  • Performing well and reservoir studies and risk analysis in support of exploitation and exploration projects.
  • Primary role will be in international economic modeling, risk analysis, offshore field development scenarios, WCD simulation studies.
  • Assist with PVT and Flow assurance studies
  • Participate in multi-discipline projects worldwide; some travel required


Should have working knowledge in the following software:

  • International economic software or Aries equivalent for domestic
  • Rose risk analysis type software or preferably GeoX
  • NODAL type programs such as Prosper or Perform
  • Material Balance type of programs such as MBAL


Abilities must include:

  • Classic reservoir engineering / decline curve analysis / material balance
  • Well performance evaluation
  • Economic evaluation (international PSC or domestic)
  • Familiarity with reservoir simulation
  • Reasonable understanding of petrophysics, reservoir characterization, and well test interpretation

Job Qualifications:


  • BS or higher in Petroleum Engineering or related field.




  • 5 to 10 years petroleum industry experience as a reservoir engineer
  • Must have some offshore experience.
  • Proficiency in risking, reserve determination, economic analysis, NODAL Analysis. Familiarity with offshore field development,
  • International experience helpful, but not necessary
  • Ability to make technically and economically sound recommendations with incomplete information essential
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work within an integrated multi-discipline team
  • Strong technical skills - provide technical reservoir engineering leadership
  • Must be able to travel, possibly to overseas locations



  • Experienced level where employee is competent in more difficult/complex techniques or procedures; performs more complex tasks.
  • Job assignments may become less broad as specializations develop within given areas.  May have responsibility for whole projects or complex assignments involving problem diagnosis and/or development of innovative technical solutions.
  • Works under limited supervision.
