Technical support for LWD applications, including log processing and interpretation, technical sales support, and introduction of new technology.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide job planning, log processing, and interpretation support for advanced LWD services, including borehole image processing and interpretation, sonic log processing, geosteering support, and formation pressure testing.
Provide technical sales and marketing support for LWD services, including technical presentations to customers, and serving as a technical resource for sales to address questions regarding LWD measurement specifications, applications, and how our LWD services compare with competitor’s LWD and wireline services. An additional objective is to submit at least one LWD-related technical paper abstract each year.
Serve as a country focal point and liaison with DS Global Support for trouble-shooting anomalous LWD logs and dealing with special customer applications requests.
Provide technical leadership for the local introduction of new LWD services.
Understand Weatherford Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions.
Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford.
Work assignments carried out to the highest quality level.
Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.
The job specifically does not involve the following: routine field work, serving as a log clerk to routinely produce final logs and customer deliverables (except for post-well processing and interpretation products), and direct sales responsibility.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Expertise in the acquisition, processing, and interpretation of LWD logs.
Good knowledge of LWD and/or wireline logging technology and applications
Basic understanding of drilling operations.
B.S. (or higher) degree in geoscience or engineering.
5+ years of relevant professional experience with an oil company or well logging service company.
Some previous academic or professional exposure to well log interpretation
Excellent oral and written communications skills, including presentation skills, in the appropriate local language, and functional English language communication skills.
Significant domestic and international travel will be required.
Some experience in advanced LWD applications such as geosteering, borehole imaging, sonic logging etc.
2+ years experience as an LWD or wireline field engineer.
