Drilling Engineer I or II,

Overview:
 

The successful candidate will have one year or more of drilling engineering or field experience, preferably in onshore ‘tight’ or ‘unconventional’ plays.  The successful candidate will work on implementation and execution of multi-rig, multi-well drilling programs.  The position available is working a rotational schedule (14 days on 14 days off) to Carlsbad, NM on the Permian Drilling Team working for the superintendent on duty. This position is a minimum 12-24 month field rotational position with the potential to transition into an office based drilling engineer position located in Houston, TX.

The successful candidate will work in a dynamic, collaborative environment and will be expected to challenge the status quo. The job role will include drill site manager duties, engineering analysis, execution of remedial work, and assistance to the completions team as needed. Title and compensation will be commensurate with experience.
 

 Responsibilities:

Conduct operations in accordance with company policy, operating agreements, and all applicable governmental regulations.
Assist Drilling and Completion Superintendents on projects as needed, anticipate drilling workload of 75%+.
Supervise remedial work as required by internal or regulatory standards.
Establish and promote safety and environmental performance expectations with employees and contractors. Be a leader in this area.
Execute torque and drag analysis fleet wide.
Take initiative to own and solve technical and operational challenges through risk based, bold recommendations to management.
Identify, evaluate, and recommend changes to current supply base and processes that may limit operational prowess or safety initiatives.
Identify new equipment, processes, techniques and technical information relative to critical well operations. 
Assist in well staking and location construction, as needed.
Communicate and work with superintendents and field foreman, daily.
Fill in for onsite supervision, as needed, in drilling and completion operations.
Collaborate with vendors and other operators, locally, to determine new approaches and drive continuous improvement in the organization.
Document and measure results, problems and causes, lessons learned and best practices; implement with local Superintendent across all operations.
Establish meaningful relationships with contractors, regulatory personnel, and landowners. Visit local representation as needed.
Participate in monthly safety calls with critical contractors.
Keep informed on applicable governmental laws and regulations, advise others as needed, and ensure compliance within area of responsibility. 
Engage in local professional organizations and regulatory trainings.

Minimum Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering required.
 
Experience: One year of drilling, completion, or production experience.
 
Computer Skills:   Must be proficient in MS office and Landmark Enterprise Solutions. 
 
Travel: Marathon locations in Carlsbad, NM.
