Position: Development Geologist (Subsidiary)

Reports to: Subsurface Manager (in country) and Lead Geologist (London)

Purpose of the Role:

The Development Geologist is responsible for the analysis of all geological data to ensure that the maximum value is being derived from the sub-surface assets. The role requires the Development Geologist to plan and implement drilling programs whilst providing geological advice during their execution.
The Development Geologist is capable of undertaking significant projects or assignments, which involve problem diagnosis or the development of innovative technical solutions.
Directly reporting to the Subsurface Manager, the Development Geologist works as part of an integrated team in the subsidiary office. At a functional level the Development Geologist reports to the Lead Geologist in London.
Job Function:

· Generation of subsurface geological maps, well logs cross-sections, seismic interpretation and other geological tools to aid with reservoir production and well performance management
· Assist in the building of full field static models that are to be used as input for dynamic simulation and well planning
· Generate well proposal and well intervention documents
· Support ongoing drilling activity and prepare post-well assessments
· Prepare reports and presentations (internal, government, banks etc.)
· Support the evaluation of reserves under SEC and PRMS guidelines to management and internal/external reserve auditors
· Provide oversight of subsurface data acquisition and management
- Special projects to be defined

Key Working Relations:

· Takes a leading role in planning and monitoring wells with drilling engineers and the operations team
· Takes a leading role in preparing the well logging plan for well intervention & drilling
· Works closely with a multidisciplinary team, including Geophysicists, Petrophysicists, Engineers and Economists to generate and mature opportunities to aid field production
· Supports the Operations team in the oversight of service contractors
· Work with the Subsurface Data Manager to gather and analyse geological data
- Providing geological support to the Subsurface & Operations team as necessary, including for external and government partners

Qualification & Experience:

· MSc in Geology
· 6+ years’ experience
· Experience in oil and gas reservoir characterization and development, reserves estimates, core description, petrography and petrophysics
· Proven experience in mapping and modelling reservoirs, integrating seismic, log and core data with statistical analysis. Preference given to those with experience of modelling deep water turbidites
· Expert Petrel user
· Working knowledge of Petrophysics
· Comfortable working with 3D seismic data
· French and/or Spanish an advantage
