The successful candidate for this opportunity will play a key role in the company's success by performing the below duties and responsibilities.
Responsibilities
As a Deepwater Geologist with Fieldwood Energy, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a diverse and fast paced environment. In this position the Deepwater Geologist will work within a multi-disciplinary team to generate and evaluate exploration prospects in Deepwater Gulf of Mexico.
This position is located in our Houston, TX office and works a 9/80 schedule.
Evaluate and interpret 3D seismic data to identify exploration prospects and exploitation opportunities.
Support field development activities such as earth model construction and drilling well placement.
Perform detailed reservoir assessments by integrating subsurface data, petrophysical evaluations and seismic interpretations.
Assesses geologic risk elements to define reserve potential and distributions for potential portfolio prospects
Work with Geophysicists, Reservoir Engineers, Drilling Engineers and Regulatory Specialist in planning and executing wells
Monitor exploration drilling activity in areas of interest
Support regional exploration trends assessment, BOEM Lease Sales, and Farm-In/Out opportunities
Liaises with partners and vendors as needed to efficiently progress prospects/projects
May lead projects involving supervision of junior employees
Qualifications
B.S. in Geology or related field required; Master’s preferred
10+ years’ industry experience required
Deepwater Gulf of Mexico experience required
Proficiency with SMT Kingdom software preferred (main interpretation package); familiarity with Paleoscan and Petrel software would be beneficial
Knowledge of petroleum systems software (i.e. Trinity) and principles would be beneficial
Ability to integrate and synthesize geologic interpretations to generate economically justified investment opportunities for the company
Solid background in prospect generation
Proficiency in well log correlation
Ability to integrate geology with geophysics
Creative problem solver with a verifiable track record of success
Ability to embrace new technologies, meet emerging market demands, respond effectively to changing conditions, apply continuous improvement techniques and create new business opportunities
Strong communication skills within all levels of the organization, which include verbal, written and nonverbal communication
