Vermilion Energy has an excellent opportunity for a Contract Senior Geological Technologist . Based in Denver, this position will report to the USBU Managing Director. The Geological Technologist will assist the technical team in exploiting the hydrocarbon resources of Vermilion owned assets. This role will provide direct technical support to the US Business Unit for asset evaluations and day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

Gather, manage, optimize and update technical databases.

Provide support and technical knowledge to the team primarily with plots, maps and cross sections.

Provide software support with common industry applications including Petra, ArcGIS, and Accumap. Convert and transfer data between these packages.

Maintain infrastructure, land, regulatory, environmental and development planning maps.

Draft well and land plats on an as needed basis.

Build industry surveillance maps including land sales, permits, competitor drilling activity or any other operational activity surrounding our key assets.

Support geologists, engineers, landmen, regulatory and leaders in their efforts to prepare presentations for various stakeholders.

Participate in and support the team in managing the workflow relative to goals with regular communication, team meetings, work planning, opportunity prioritization etc.

First Year Deliverables

Support delivery of combined capital + base production wedges

Clean, optimize and update Petra projects

Surveillance map updates

Land map updates

Infrastructure map updates

Essential Experience & Skills

Expertise in Petra and ArcGIS.

8-12 years of related progressive experience in Oil & Gas

Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office’s suite of applications, especially Excel and Power Point

Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership, analytical and critical thinking skills

Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative manner supporting diverse groups of individuals

Ability to work effectively, confidentially and professionally in a rapidly changing business environment

Strong team player with the ability to build relationships and work constructively with others to achieve business goals

Results oriented individual with the ability to work independently, prioritize work and multi-task effectively

Education

Bachelor’s degree required. Major in geology, geophysics, or other technical discipline a plus.
