The Computer Geoscientist is responsible for creating new, and improving existing geoscience algorithms and applications.
The successful candidate will be working on the Jason Workbench, a comprehensive software package containing tools aimed at seismic inversion and written primarily in C++. The Jason Workbench has been around for 30 years and is the preferred inversion technology at many international majors and national oil companies.
The role focuses on advancing the state of the reservoir characterization algorithms and applications and ensuring that new software designs and implementations satisfy the requirements for the software, whilst maintaining certain parts of the already existing software.
You will be responsible for the reporting of any timing and / or technical project issues to the team.
The ideal candidate will be educated to master’s degree (MSc level) or have a PhD in geophysics, physics, mathematics, electrical engineering or a related field and with experience within mathematical algorithms and signal processing.
You will be familiar with aspects of a software development cycle (version control, requirements, testing, etc.) with the ability to work within cross functional teams, sharing best practices and knowledge. Experience with object-oriented programming is required.
Experience with C++ programming in a commercial environment, as well as experience with cross-platform (Windows and Linux) programming and graphical user interface development would be desirable.
