LOCATION: Calgary, Alberta (CA-AB) JOB NUMBER: 25266   Job Overview Co-op positions at Suncor are more than just a work term. In this role, you will be working alongside a dynamic team of engineers, geoscientists, and geo-mechanical subject matter experts. You will get to perform exciting work that supports future development, including creating and simulating models, converting workflows, and supporting the restructuring of risk assessments and testing probabilistic approaches to sub-surface risk assessments. Key Accountabilities Perform geo-mechanical technical work and simulations Review and follow workflows while building and running simulations Work on converting workflows between different geological software packages Support the restructuring of risk assessments Required Qualifications Experience and Education: You bring a strong geo-mechanical background in lab testing and numerical modeling Currently enrolled in a PhD (preferred) or masters geo-mechanical program at an accredited post-secondary institution, and returning to full-time studies after the work term Attach your transcripts with your application and clearly indicate the length of work term for which you are available Skills and Knowledge: Proficient in using geological software packages such as: GoCad, RMS or Petrel Deep understanding of thermal recovery processes Knowledge of pressure transient analysis (Kappa Ecrin) and probability assessment software (@Risk is an asset) You collaborate with others in order to achieve the best results and deliver the best outcome You constantly ask what could go wrong and check for out-of-the-ordinary conditions and learn to anticipate potential problems Working Conditions This is an 8-12 month work term, from January 2019 December 2019  Why Suncor Start your career at one of Canada's leading companies.
