We are looking for an experienced, accomplished, and motivated individual to fill the position of Chief Unconventional Reservoir Engineer within our Technical Support organization based in Houston, Texas.
Has theoretical and practical knowledge of (1) the integrated subsurface characterization and engineering workflows required to accurately access and predict the performance of horizontal wells in unconventional reservoirs, (2) reservoir surveillance processes, (3) reserves assessment, (4) evaluation of new/emerging technologies.Actively participates in reviews of work by Reservoir Engineers and their teammates from supporting disciplines to help ensure the work is complete, follows good science and engineering practices, and adheres to Company workflows.Mentors Reservoir Engineers working unconventional resources to help them produce results that significantly impact company performance. Helps others challenge the status quo, generate promising new ideas, explore different approaches.Supports supervisors in devising training and development programs for their Reservoir Engineering staff. Supports hiring new Reservoir Engineers. Facilitates internal transfers of Reservoir Engineering staff.Provides vision for, and contributes to, the OXY Reservoir Engineering Communities of Practice.Fosters multi-organizational, multi-disciplinary integration and collaboration.Displays energy and dedication.Communicates well with management, colleagues, various internal work groups, and other stake holders.Interacts with executives and visiting dignitaries. Frequently interacts with OXY’s top technical experts from multiple disciplines.
BS or higher degree in Petroleum Engineering or related discipline.12+ years in the oil and gas industry; 8+ years with unconventional reservoirs.Demonstrated mastery of unconventional reservoir engineering; good working knowledge of closely related disciplines such as geophysics, geology, geomechanics, petrophysics, completion/stimulation engineering, and economic modeling.Recognized accomplishments in the characterization, evaluation, development planning, surveillance, and/or reserves assessment of unconventional resources.Good business acumen. Ability to define/quantify business risks and uncertainties.Track record of having successfully developed individuals and organizations.Interpersonal skills to communicate well, mentor, beneficially influence others, build teamwork, and spur innovation.Permian Basin experience preferred.
