Fulfilling the most senior petroleum geoscience role within Robertson UK, the Chief Petroleum Geoscientist will be responsible for ensuring technical leadership and excellence across the Petroleum Geology discipline within the Robertson business line. The Chief Petroleum Geoscientist has an advisory role with respect to all technical matters within the business units.
Joining a regional team and reporting to a Senior Project Supervisor, the role will have a global scope and you will work across all regions; providing technical advice and excellence in the discipline.
The Chief Scientist will be responsible for undertaking geological mapping and proprietary studies on regional to block scale and the identification, definition, resource assessment and risking of hydrocarbon prospects. Project work will include long large scale regional studies through to quick fire data room analysis in a few weeks.
The candidate must be able to contribute to projects using a range of techniques and processes relating to the areas of Geochemistry and Petroleum Systems Analysis and have the ability to independently and accurately generate and interpret data and prepare professional reports, related to their specific discipline.
In addition to project based responsibilities, you will also be accountable for leading all technical and scientific excellence for your specific scientific discipline; providing advice on projects, proposals and resource allocation.
Participating in the Technical Committee Board meeting, the Chief Scientist will also contribute to the development of skills and knowledge and will provide mentoring and development to team members to achieve, in addition to providing assistance to the 0-5 year training and mentoring programme.
You will be accountable for proposal generation and report writing, providing scientific advice for multi-client product generation, as well as responsible for delivering geological interpretations, research and training for oil and gas companies within the area of Geochemistry and Petroleum Systems Analysis related to oil and gas exploration.
The successful candidate will develop their existing understanding and knowledge of CGG’s wider technical disciplines, products and services and be involved in training programmes and presentations, internally and at conferences. Qualifications
The ideal candidate must be educated to degree level (BSc or above) in a Geological discipline, but ideally with an additional MSc or PhD in geoscience and proven extensive experience within that discipline.
A proven track record, preferably with multi-regional and/or global geoscience, with significant experience in an Oil and Gas consultancy or Oil Company is essential.
Fantastic Microsoft office skills, IT literacy and English language skills are paramount to the role, with experience of writing technical reports being a high priority.
