The Company provides multi-client geoscience data to the global oil and gas industry. In addition to extensive data libraries that includes: seismic data, magnetic and gravity data, digital well logs, production data and directional surveys, they also offer advanced processing and imaging services, interpretation products and data integration solutions.
Their interpretative products are well established and respected amongst their client base. They cover all four stages of the oil field exploration cycle and help clients make informed decisions at each stage. They provide in-depth geological analysis of basins, interpretations of depositional environments and facies that help to identify risk and provide an effective petroleum play for more informed prospectivity analysis.
In this senior role, you will provide geophysical technical leadership and guidance, ensuring the effective implementation of new technology and best practice into the multi-client projects. Proactively, liaising with major clients, you will promote the Company’s high quality imaging services, the technologies used and help to secure proprietary processing opportunities in the region. In addition, you work with internal and external acquisition and processing centers to ensure top quality products are delivered on multi-client projects. Together with Processing Center Chief Geophysicists, you will keep abreast of new technological advancements and work trends, and provide this knowledge; clients’ feedback; and guidance to R&D; to assist in developing new leading edge processing technology. Responsibilities Reporting to SVP New Ventures this role encompasses many functions including:
Overall responsibility for the geophysical technical aspects of all Multi-Client (MC) projects with the objective of delivering high-quality data products.
Overall responsibility for driving geophysical technical excellence across the region.
Become the go-to-person for geophysical advice and guidance.
As such, duties will include:
Promoting and presenting technology to clients in the region building technical and quality reputation.
Acting as the Business Unit (BU) main resource in ensuring imaging quality. a) Review final and critical stage processing products and providing feedback and advice to management, sales, marketing and processing teams. b) Formulate and give R&D; input to Imaging on behalf of BU.
Proactively promote proprietary processing capabilities and help in identifying new business opportunities for processing across the region.
Participating in the development of multi-client projects together with Project Developers and Sales through: a) Deep knowledge of the existing MC library b) Understanding and insight into the geologic plays and oil company focus areas in the region c) Initiating MC reprocessing opportunities d) Acting as technical resource and mentor to Project Developers and Sales team
Attending industrial and international geophysical conferences to monitor technology trends and practices and competitor development. Reporting back to Imaging R&D; and the Business Unit.
Presentation of technical papers at geophysical conventions and meetings, interaction with key clients and building relationships with client key technical decision makers.
Liaise closely with the other regional Chief Geophysicists – drive technical excellence across the whole company.
Promote a culture of knowledge sharing – drive technical excellence across all involved.
This is an exciting and challenging role for an individual with a strong geophysical background, a passion for technical excellence and a keen interest in keeping abreast of new technologies both within the industry and externally that may impact excellence. Preferences The successful candidate will have:
Masters or Ph.D. degree in Geophysics, Physics, Math or Geology is preferred or demonstrable equivalent experience.
Minimum of 10 years’ in processing or related geophysical R&D; background essential.
Ability to provide advanced technical leadership and guidance in all aspects of seismic data processing and acquisition essential.
Some experience in time and depth imaging desired.
Proven experience with processing software, processing production and workstations highly desired.
Experience of writing and presenting papers is highly sought after.
Proven experience in giving technical presentations essential.
Deep knowledge of geophysics, an understanding of petroleum systems and oil exploration essential.
Experience in processing data from a wide variety of geographical areas highly desired.
Strong commercial acumen - knowledge of the business side of processing and dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of clients.
