TGS provides multi-client geoscience data to oil and gas Exploration and Production companies worldwide. In addition to extensive global geophysical and geological data libraries that include multi-client seismic data, magnetic and gravity data, digital well logs, production data and directional surveys, TGS also offers advanced processing and imaging services, interpretation products, permanent reservoir monitoring and data integration solutions.
The Chief Geophysicist is responsible for providing geophysical technical leadership and guidance to the Business Unit. The Chief Geophysicist will ensure the effective implementation of new technology and best practice into the multi-client projects. He or she will promote TGS technology to major clients and be responsible for promoting proprietary processing sales in the region. In addition, the Chief Geophysicist will work with internal and external acquisition and processing centers to ensure top quality products delivered on multi-client projects. The Business Unit chief geophysicist, together with Processing Center chief geophysicists, will provide new industrial technical trends, clients’ feedback and guidance to R&D; in developing new processing technology.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Overall responsibility for the geophysical technical aspects of all MC projects with the objective of delivering high-quality data products and for developing proprietary processing opportunities. As such, duties will include:
Promoting and presenting TGS technology to clients in the region building TGS technical and quality reputation.
Acting as the BU main resource in ensuring imaging quality: Review final and critical stage processing products and providing feedback and advice to management, sales, marketing and processing teams. Formulate and give R&D; input to Imaging on behalf of BU.
Promoting TGS proprietary processing capabilities and facilitating the sales of proprietary processing.
Participating in the development of multi-client projects together with Project Developers and Sales through
Deep knowledge of the existing MC library
Understanding and insight into the geologic plays and oil company focus areas in the region
Initiating MC reprocessing opportunities
Acting as technical resource and mentor to Project Developers and Sales team
Attending industrial and international geophysical conferences to monitor technology trends and competitor development reporting back to Imaging R&D; and the BU. Presentation of technical papers at geophysical conventions and meetings, interaction with key clients and building relationships with client key technical decision makers.
Participation in TGS internal global chief geophysicists meetings and network.
Take responsibility for your own safety, and comply with all instructions given regarding health, safety and the protection of the environment.
Ensure the correct use of safety devices and protective equipment as required and report any hazards, accidents or injuries to your immediate supervisor.
Master or Ph.D. degree in Geophysics, Physics, Math or Geology is preferred or demonstrable equivalent experience.
Extensive demonstrable processing or R&D; or related experience.
Experience in time and depth imaging preferred.
Proven experience with processing software, processing production and workstations.
An industry recognized publication history
Proven experience in giving technical presentations
Deep knowledge of geophysics, an understanding of petroleum systems and oil exploration, and experience in processing data from a wide variety of geographical areas.
Ability to provide advanced technical direction on all aspects seismic data processing and acquisition
Knowledge of the business side of processing and dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of the customers
Effective in and supportive of working in a dynamic and collaborative team environment
Advanced problem solving and multi-tasking skills.
Proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels within and outside the company
