Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
To work closely with the Petroleum Engineering faculty to develop a vision of the long-term evolution of the program and implement a strategy to execute that vision.

Serving as the academic and administrative leader of the Program, the chair would work collaboratively with faculty and staff to lead the academic and administrative affairs of the Program while promoting excellence in teaching, assessment, and program design leading to achievement of student learning outcomes.

Represents the key advocate and communication link for the program, and leads faculty and staff in teaching, utilizing scholarly research and professional activities to produce high quality engineering and science professionals.

The Chair takes responsibility for the academic, research, facilities and financial affairs of the Program.

Provides effective leadership and direction for the Program through a process of shared governance; strategic planning; management of human, financial and physical resources, and supervision of the Program’s compliance with national (UAE) and international (ABET) accreditation standards.

Attracts potential candidates for the department in the rank of distinguished/full professor positions.

Assists the Dean of the College of Engineering in ensuring the continuous growth, development and improvement of the College.

Qualification Required:
PhD degree in Petroleum Engineering or closely related field supported by relevant petroleum engineering academic or industry experience.

Experience Required:
Excellent record of teaching and scholarly achievement.

Advanced interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to lead and successfully manage professionals in an academic organization.
