About the role
The Australia Operated Subsurface Team seeks the skills of an experienced geologist to assist with the characterisation, definition and planning of additional development projects across a range of existing oil and gas fields in operated acreage.

The main focus areas of this role are to assist with the identification and characterisation of additional development opportunities. This would be achieved through analysis and modification of an existing set of static models along with the creation and maintenance of new models as required.

The role requires a close working relationships be developed with the team reservoir engineer and geophysicist and will report to the Australia Operated Subsurface Technical Manager.
The successful candidate will have broad experience in aspects of development and production geology. Specifically, responsibilities of the role will require:
Building, maintaining and utilising static geocellular models, in Petrel, for the purpose field development planning
Undertaking integrated geoscience based studies in support of overall field developments
Estimation and quality control of in-place oil and gas volumetric estimates using a variety of software to determine 1D and 3D outcomes
Evaluation and design of appraisal and development wells along with corresponding technical proposals
Presentation and documentation of technical material and proposals
Generation of additional reserve opportunities
Supervision and mentoring of junior geoscience staff
About You
The successful candidate will possess the following:
A bachelors’ degree in geology or related earth sciences subject – an MSc qualification would be advantageous along with relevant industry training
The ability to develop integrated static reservoir models
Ability to recognise, quantify and characterise uncertainty as the basis for decision making
Experience in planning and designing horizontal development wells from a geoscience standpoint
Experience as Well Project Team Leader
Experience in well placement through geosteering applications
The below experience would be beneficial:
Experience in planning and designing horizontal development wells from a geoscience standpoint
Experience with 4D seismic data sets and interpretation thereof
An understanding of well design and planning principles and drilling and completion concepts including casing point selection and target identification
