This role is for a Petroleum/Reservoir engineer to teach customers Harmony software, including RTA theory and software. Candidate should have a Petroleum/Reservoir engineering degree, and experience using the software in the industry with real data. Unconventional well RTA experience is preferred. Additional responsibilities are described below.
Deliver a variety of training types:
Public training including concepts and existing practical examples. Approx 3 times per year in Houston. Potential in other locations based on demand.
On-site consultative style training, using customer data (received in advance). This training is usually asset-specific, providing a knowledge transfer to the customer of best practices when analyzing their own wells. Typical training locations include Houston, Midland, Dallas, OKC, Pittsburgh. This could be as frequent as 1 course per month, lasting 2-3 days per course.
Pro Active Support – Retaining customers is a critical part of our software business. We often need to justify our presence within a customer and correct perceptions of software abilities. This is often done by listening to the customer problems, current workflow, perceived limitations of our software. Following this, a presentation is made to the customer focusing on value and correcting any potential perceptions, to help solve the customers problems with our software.
New Features – When new features are released, case studies to present to the industry are required and need to be generated. For example: Multiphase FMB, PTA + RTA integration, etc. This role requires the individual to exercise new technology and incorporate it into case studies to present to the industry.
Software Dev Feedback – As this role has a high level of engagement with customers, feedback to our software dev team is required, to relay request and features required to remain competitive and satisfy our customer base.
Support – As the person in this role builds a relationship with our customer base, customers may begin engaging you directly to ask technical or software how-to questions. A balance between answering strategic questions vs passing questions to our primary Support team will be required of this role.
Conferences – There are a handful of conferences that IHS Markit has a booth at in the US each year. At these conferences there are 2 responsibilities for this role: 1) be present to meet with customers, answer questions, present the software on-demand, and 2) present scheduled topics (your topic) at pre-determined times.
Internal Mentorship – As you develop case studies, test new features, find new problem-solutions with customers, these experiences are diminished if kept in a vacuum. Our team of technical members, globally, required visibility to these solutions to help customers beyond your personal reach. In addition, new-hires will require mentorship to get ramped up and will shadow you as you meet with customers.
Working with Sales – Ultimately, this role is to support Sales. Training creates new users, presentations at client sites grows business. Account managers, in Houston, will require your experience skills to understand customer problems and create presentations that show how our software can help solve these problems. Sales will also need your insight to get your suggestions of opportunities you see to increase our business, such as a specific sales-campaign focusing on a particular solution we have not considered.
