ROLE SYNOPSIS

BP Russia is building a Seismic Deliver Team (SDT) in Moscow. The SDT will be responsible for delivery of all aspects of geophysical data and technologies, acquisition through analysis, exploration through production. The SDT will work closely with Rosneft (BP’s strategic partner in Russia), Rosneft’s subsidiaries, and BP-Rosneft Joint Ventures to meet basic business needs as well as develop and deploy new technologies.The position of Applied Geophysicist – Seismic Analysis is required to deploy existing and new seismic acquisition techniques and technologies in Russia for the BP-Rosneft strategic partnership. The successful candidate will have knowledge and experience with Seismic Rock Properties & Seismic Analysis (SRP&A;) workflows and applications, and have shown the ability to work easily across the disciplines of petrophysics and seismic processing. The successful candidate will have the exceptional opportunity to develop as part of a team of global seismic experts while learning BP’s seismic analysis and rock properties methods, and become a key member of BP’s global Seismic Delivery network.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

-Clearly demonstrate the business value of BP’s SRP&A methods through technical application

-Provide specialist Seismic Analysis support to Reservoir Development and Exploration teams

-Generate fit-for-purpose Amplitude versus Offset and inversion data through hands-on application

-Provide assurance on both seismic acquisition & processing activities in support of Seismic Analysis

-Continually interface with the global BP to import BP’s best practices, work flows and know-how

-Develop a sustainable SRP&A resource and legacy in Russia

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION

Bachelor Degree or higher, qualified in Geophysics or related subject (e.g. Physics)

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND JOB REQUIREMENTS

-3+ years hands-on experience in integrated seismic rock properties and seismic analysis

-In-depth knowledge and experience seismic interpretation, especially generating and working with 3D seismic attributes

-In-depth knowledge and experience of seismic well ties

-Deep theoretical understanding of seismic amplitude versus offset for fluid and lithology prediction

-Foundation in seismic processing, data conditioning-Foundation in petrophysics

OTHER REQUIREMENTS (E.G. TRAVEL, LOCATION)

BP Russia has a 19.75 shareholding in Rosneft and is jointly developing a greenfield in East Siberia, appraising a giant field in West Siberia and exploring in Areas of Mutual Interest (AMI’s) amounting to over 500,000 sqkm across the country. Our shareholder team in Moscow supports Rosneft and our Joint Ventures to maximize shared learning and value.
