Title:- Adv. Sr. Completions Design Engineer
Reporting to:- Strategic Well Analysis Team (S.W.A.T.) Subsurface/Completions Manager, Integrated Performance Organization
Direct Reports:- 0
The position is being formed within the Integrated Performance Organization at Marathon Oil Corporation (MRO).- This person will report to the SWAT Subsurface/Completions Manager and will create subsurface development and completions design solutions to build and maintain MRO-s competitive advantage and contribute to continuous earnings growth. -The focus will be on delivering technical solutions that utilize available technologies and efficient workflows to optimize development and performance of resource plays.- The role will support Asset teams across the resource plays.
The successful candidate must be able to provide solid technical analysis and facilitate integration and decision-making among functional disciplines across MRO-s Resource Play segments.- -A strong emphasis on collaboration, influence and thought leadership is a requirement of this position.-
Lead integration efforts to optimize subsurface development (e.g., well spacing and hydraulic fracture designs) using simulation, data analytics and field pilot results
Apply Mangrove, Gohfer and other appropriate fracture modeling software proficiently
Be familiar with capabilities, limitations and use of Eclipse, Petrel and Visage software
Integrate microseismic data, tracer data, geochemical studies and data from technology pilots into history matched hydraulic fracture models
Work closely with the appropriate groups (i.e. Technical Innovation and Asset Teams) within MRO to prioritize, implement and realize the value of new or improved completion technologies to provide differentiation
Participate in creating workflows that span from the subsurface disciplines (i.e., petrophysics, geophysics, geology, reservoir engineering) through completions engineering
Identify and champion opportunities for operational execution improvements and efficiencies
Interface primarily with completions engineers, reservoir engineers, geoscientists and data scientists.- Interface on a more limited basis with production and drilling engineers
Utilize benchmarking studies and identify best practices used by other operators; integrate those practices Marathon
Understand/conversant in commonly used completion practices in resource plays (i.e., mechanical/hardware aspects of completing a well via plug-n-perf, sliding sleeves, etc.)
Demonstrate strong presentation skills to effectively tell the technical story to the Asset and Executives during the project
Contribute to the completions engineering community via communities of practice, training programs and mentorship.
Represent Marathon in Joint Industry Projects and/or Studies
Possess strong subsurface and completions skills and abilities that will be recognized and emulated by the SMEs and peers

Networked with other engineers, service providers and relevant universities
Savvy at engaging & influencing
Driven / Results oriented
Education - Petroleum Engineering degree preferred, but based on work history an alternative engineering degree is acceptable
Experience - At least 15 years of relevant industry experience with a mix of completion engineering (frac modeling & operations experience preferred), reservoir and geomechanics
